Bhadra Fort

Atal Express toy train

The Atal Express toy train is the main tourist attraction of Kankaria Lake. The train circles the lake at 10 km per hour and can carry up to 150 passengers. The train was imported from London and introduced in Kankaria eleven months ago, attracting nearly a million visitors. Since then, a second train, the Swarnim Jayanti Express, has been introduced. All the trains on the railway are narrow gauge and two feet wide.

Atal Wadi

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation revamped Kankaria Lake in 2008, spending nearly 36 crore Indian rupees on the project. The city now has a beautiful lakefront area and holds various cultural and social events. The lake is also home to a famous carnival festival held every December. This festival is held between the 25th of December and the 1st of January, and it is a popular destination for locals and tourists.

Atal helium balloon ride

The AMC has given its in-principle approval to Sky Wonder Pvt Ltd to set up a hot-air balloon ride facility beside Kankaria Lake. 

  • The project is estimated at Rs10 crore. 
  • It will be the first of its kind in India. 
  • The balloon will carry up to 30 passengers. 
  • The riders will be able to view the city from the air.
